This series' anime adaptation was a staple of my childhood. However, I'm not a nostalgia freak. The other biggest things to me at the time were Pokemon and TMNT. I still love Pokemon, but those original games can be almost painful now, and the original Turtles cartoon is pretty terrible, though the 2003 version is great
That point aside, this is an excellent introduction volume, though I suppose it was supposed to be at least half of the whole series at the time. The art is stunning and obliterates its anime counterpart, the humor is great, though a little too perverse at times, but it's a different culture and I'd heard about it beforehand. Every character is distinct and fleshed out in quick and subtle ways, and it's just a dann good time. This was maybe my least favorite Canon portion in the anime, but it's so much better done here that it'll either jump up that list, or everything else will at least border on perfection.

It’s a nice read. The famous Dragon Ball is very cool. It’s famous and attractive. Rather dumb, but fun. If you want something fun and lighthearted, read it.

Surprisingly funny. Goku and his innocence is an instant laugh. Some questionable content, but probably a result of the time in which it was written.
It hurts my feminist soul to read this shit sometimes. The beginning of the series is ROUGH. I'm really only in this for Piccolo and the world tournaments...
