4.75 ⭐️ I really enjoyed this! I’d heard that book 2 was like wayyyy better and totally different from book 1 and I definitely agree! The first part of the story was not quite as fast paced as the second part, but I don’t mind that pacing! I liked that we got to know some of the main characters in the first part, and it definitely got weird, like with the made up physics, but the importance of the wall facets was really hammered home and showed just how desperate humanity was at that point. It was a very “human” reflection of how humans handle a crisis. The second half DUDE wtf it got crazy! The time jump was well done in my opinion and it didn’t feel cheesy. Because of the Sofan blockade, the advancements in society felt like actually achievable in the time that elapsed, and the changes in humanity’s outlook on the crisis were well explained, it just all made sense and I think that’s very hard to do as an author. I really liked that the main characters from the past were reintroduced and we got to learn about the new world through their eyes with the background built in part 1. Once we got to the space age and the battles and the escapism, my jaw was literally on the floor! I love sci fi!!!! The last like third of the book was just peak doomsday space battle scenes and I could eat that literally for dinner lol!!! Hehehe I did tell my dad to read these so hopefully Joel has a good time as well!
