I have to admit that I remember very little about this one other than I read it for a Renaissance poetry class. Maybe I'll reread it at aime point.

Leander begging Hero to have sex with him 'if not for love, for pity sake' is the peak of romance

I won’t lie I wanted to reread some marlowe because I was having very profound thoughts about how a large part of my generation was primarily exposed to his works as a result of A Discovery Of Witches. Either way, I read Hero and Leander about a decade ago and somehow it went entirely over my head how gay this is I’m dying it’s so camp how did anyone go WOW WHAT A SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP. It’s so camp this brought me joy I’m going to go actually do some work now that my faith in humanity has been reignited

It's interesting to see what was considered an "erotic" poem in the sixteenth century. This would be rated PG today! It's a pretty entertaining read, though.
