Amazing, hilarious, love it.

There’s two reasons I can’t give it a five star rating. Firstly, I didn’t feel quite as immersed as I could’ve and I think the world building could use a little work. Second, and this is purely subjective, I didn’t really connect with any of the main characters. They were great and I cared about them, but I didn’t connect.

Edit: prose wasn’t fantastic either

I loved this book! It was charming, and heartwarming - not words I often use to describe fantasy novels.

This book has quite a comedic tone - something I didn't expect going in. In general, there's a good balance of serious moments and lighthearted ones. I loved our characters, I really rooted for them. Clay makes an excellent protagonist - how can someone be so straightforward yet complex at the same time?

Not only were the characters wonderful, the world was already rich. It was very reminiscent of D&D. Essentially every creature you can think of exists within this world. It allowed for really entertaining stories.

Honestly, my only criticism of this book is that we only get 1 with this Band! I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys classic fantasy, and fantasy RPGs. This makes a great read in between heavier novels.

I enjoyed listening to this. The only problem was how predictable everything was. Nothing had weight to it as everything was easily "fixed". Fun listen, but not a MUST READ.

Fun and laid back fantasy. Lots and lots of action. It reads like a movie script. It's straight forward, unsurprising and goes down easy.

This book reads like a DND campaign and I loved that, I literally had to look up if it was based on a campaign. Moog has my heart, crazy wizard, such a good character. The characters not being young made this book so much better, hearing about stiff backs and cracking was a surprisingly refreshing/realistic aspect.
That being said I thought the book had the perfect amount of plot but enough said moments to break up the seriousness. I loved the way that Eames wrote the fight scenes, it was so easy to follow which is not something you always find in action novels. I will be reading more of the series!
