Took me a while to knock this one out as due to the wealth of good tv, film and video games that have come already in 2023 I simply haven’t been reading as much as I’d like.
A simply written, vastly entertaining fantasy novel that incorporates tropes and creatures from every classic fantasy series while delivering entertaining violence and a consistent sarcastic, goofy sense of humor. In short this book is like watching Dimension 20 or Naddpod or any of the other great actual play DnD campaigns. Filled with lovable characters engrossed in a dark fantasy world and refusing to take it or themselves seriously.
It’s not groundbreaking but it is pretty much the platonic ideal of a fantasy beach read.

This book was good! The pacing was a bit weird in places and it was a little predictable, but it was funny and the overall story was very interesting.

Pretty decent adventure book. My one real problem with the world is that the author got seemingly rather lazy in coming up with parts of it, with a lot of direct allusions that sorta cheapen the entire thing.
