I loved this book and I now understand why people rave about it on bookstagram! It made me so happy while I was reading it and after it was done. I’ll definitely be committing to reading the rest of the series because I enjoyed all of the characters and am eager to read Stacey’s story in Well Played and April’s story in Well Matched.
I thought I wouldn’t get that into it with the Renaissance Faire plot, but this book makes me want to visit a faire once it is completely safe after the pandemic to do so. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope and the banter and tension between Emily and Simon was perfect when they were themselves and when they were Emma and Captain Blackthrone. Emily was a really well written character, she had her struggles and trust issues thanks to her ex-boyfriend, but I liked how she didn’t let that stop her from being there for her sister, niece and figuring out a future that worked best for her.

A very sweet and fun Renaissance Faire rom com, the premise alone had me hooked. I love Ren Faire people, and I think that this was just a really loving ode to the entire wacky world of the Faire. The main couple has really good chemistry--I always love a grump who cannot properly express emotions and a ray of sunshine. Although I love romance novels, I am not a giant fan of the third act break up. I still wasn't here, but it was a blessedly short one (like, less than 30 pages) and the resolution to it was very sweet. I will definitely be getting Well Played.
Moderate: Death
Minor: Terminal illness and Cancer
