This book felt like if hunger games/divergent was fantasy. I liked the plot but it felt like there was a lot going on and a lot to keep up with at once and you never know what parts/characters are important and what isn’t.

Dain’s betrayal was a good twist because of all the subtle mentions of his touch and it justified finding him so obnoxious the entire time.

On the other hand, Xaden

The hype surrounding this book is 100% earned!! I’m obsessed!! I can’t even remember the last time I was so invested in a novel. The world building is immaculate and my attention was captured from the first page. I can’t wait for November! 5/5

While I enjoyed the book on a surface level (mainly my interactions with my friends who enjoy the book) I can't say I liked it.

It was trope after trope after trope and that's not even my gripe. My single gripe is that I dispise the main character and we are constantly, overwhelmingly, suffocatingly in her head for the entire book I kept screaming shut up after every thought floating across her head.

She's smart but not too smart, she's capable but not too capable, snarky but not too snarky just an all around meh.

Side characters are great and would have preferred being in their heads much more than the protag.

Corny.

Such a fun read, predictable in a good way.

Great to read straight after acotar, both writers have different styles and I really enjoyed how I was immersed into the world from the beginning, really enjoyed!
