I am only giving this 4 stars because of where this series could go and I didn't hate it. This book has potential but FML there's so much wrong with it. How some of you say this is better than acotar is beyond me.

Pros:
I now want to bond with dragons and have snippy conversations in my head.
Xaden >>>> Liam all day.

Cons:
The writing is sloppy. This book was not well edited and the plot just does not make sense at times. It's slow for 100 pages, quick for 50 pages, draaaaaaaags another 200 pages, some action last 100 pages. The action was disappointing.

Xaden and Violet relationship makes no sense. How is making snide remarks at one another an enemies to lovers? He barely did anything wront to her. Once again, another scary and powerful MMC that is all bark and no bite. Randomly falling in love with just 'he's staring at me' is bull. He is supposed to HATE her.

Also, why are the characters randomly discussing being horny during the most unexpected times?

The most generic fantasy book ever, felt like I was reading a first draft that needed a lot of editing. Had high hopes but was let down yet again. It's my fault really, I let the BookTok community influence my judgment. I am so incredibly tired of cliches and it's not even funny how this book is a literal amalgamation of them, can we for once NOT have a (for the lack of a better word) pick-me as a protagonist. Violet gave me headaches. Not one of the character's were well developed, Xaden was pretty much the very typical male lead and not in a good way. The story was so rushed and so unoriginal, honestly felt like the author just wrote a fanfic of every popular fantasy book ever. Please please stop writing books like this.
