Plot was okay but the writing was very bad. Some plot points were also very predictable. The Gauntlet seemed to have been heavily inspired by American Ninja Warrior.

Very easy to totally lose yourself in this book and its characters. 

There is some predictability to make the story feel comfortable while managing to put in reveals that make your heart seize or your stomach drop. 

Focused around cadets at a war college for a country that has been at war for centuries while trying to team up with testy dragons to protect what the dragons and humans need. 

Ok politics, good romance, great character development and a strong cast.

I did not care for this like I hoped I would. I thought the writing was repetitive and clunky and I found myself rolling my eyes at a lot of the dialogue. That said, it was fast paced and action packed.
