I unintentionally read this ghost book near halloween. I absolutely love this cover and read it based on that and author name recognition alone.

This book really touched my heart. I don't want to ruin it but the end is very magical and well written.

“I’m learning that it’s good to think about what scares you. To bring it into the light. Even to hold it in your hands, if you can, and feel how it can’t hurt you anymore. To think of it and say, ‘I am not afraid.”

I decided to buy a couple of Nina LaCour’s books, mostly because of the covers, but on the other side as they sounded very good and I hoped that they would just be as good as my very first Nina LaCour book which I read a few years ago: We Are Okay. Don’t know why it took me so long to read more of her works, but hey, better late than never.

No book have I ever read portrayed Loniness as Nina LaCour books!

I wasn't that much into the book in the beginning. I cant say It was what I expected (since I really loved "we are okay", I had high expectations from this one too). can't deny that it is a Good book!

My favorite part was when everything came to conclusion in the last part of the book. I couldn't put the book down! I was crying with every word! I was speechless and sad, my emotions got stirred up.

The author is such a talented one, she puts me in awe every time! she has a way with words, they flow like air but get your heart in a direct way! The beat is calm then suddenly everything turns upside down! and I like that!

Some of the elements I didn't expect to see- like the ghost and anything concerning them.
I didn't like their presence in the story. I felt like If it had just the elements we see as the real world, it would have had much more of an impact on us (the readers). BUT! now that I think about it, the story had a unique color because of this too. (guess it a matter of taste as always

This quick read packed a punch. Nina LaCour explores grief and trauma in a dynamic way, with flashbacks, isolated setting, and ghosts (yup, ghosts people can actually see). It was beautifully tragic and atmospheric and slightly confusing.
