This series is gonna drive me crazy if the author continues to keep the starks a foot sway from each other
Robb breaks a promise which I hated since staying true is one of my favorite things about the starks
A lot of the POV are of a journey through the entire book with no one reaching their destination
I love Arya but she hasn’t really done anything smart or strong or impressive which makes sense since she’s 11 but is a bit of a letdown considering the build up in book 1
I don’t like all the POVs but I suppose there’s nothing to do about different preferences
Sansa was having such amazing character development so her obsession with sir loras was annoying
I understand why people like tyron but he’s not my favorite
Samwells POV was a good addition even though I don’t really care about what’s going on beyond the wall
For some unknown reason I’ve been rooting for the hound but he’s got to get over his face he thinks everything that happens is because of his looks. Get over yourself dude!
i have a lot of expectations for bran they better not let me down
Also I have so many questions
How did the wielding get over the wall if jauls and his men died?
Why is the timeline so stupid?
What was that scene with the hound? Why would he randomly come back and than leave?
If wieldling are free people why do they have to abide by every command they’re given?
Why do the wieldings feel zero morose when murdering?
Why do the night watch man the wall from wieldings territory as opposed to staying on the safe side and killing anyone who tries to pass?
HOW DID THEY CROSS THE WALL?
Why does every sentence Ygritte say start with “you know nothing”?(not a genuine question I just hate her with a passion)
And more that I can’t think of now

At over 1200 pages A Storm of Swords is such a big-ass book that in some editions it has to be split in two separate books. Since I haven't read the second part of the third book yet, this review will only reflect my thoughts on A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow.
In the wake of the battle at King's Landing, the power balance has shifted once again. Shit's going down in the North as well, and the Khaleesi is still collecting her army.
To be honest, if you would make a summary of the essence what happens in this book, you could probably condense it in a page or two. This is probably true for all of the Song of Ice and Fire books. Martin's books are SLOW. They are honest to god the slowest books I've ever read. That being said, it's so easy to drown in the world of Westeros. It's like one big puppet play, set in dozens of locations, and Martin is the puppet master. His characters meet and clash, deceive or reveal, or narrowly miss each other.
I enjoy spending time in Westeros. But as I've said before, I don't have the idea this story is actually going anywhere. I think the finale of the books will bring a lot of deaths, but I don't think there will be a truly satisfying way to finish these books. There are just so many characters, and although Martin is great at culling the ranks, he adds more points of view than he removes.
As a book on itself, Steel and Snow feels unfinished and unsatisfying. It clearly isn't meant to stand on its own, and it feels like the book ends before something big can really happen. Don't start this one unless you have the second one near as well.
I can't wait to read about a certain wedding everyone keeps talking about in the next one.

I enjoyed this a lot more than Clash of Kings! Can't wait to dive into the second half of A Storm of Swords.
In the beginning I struggled to get through it again, but around halfway through all my favourite characters started to have amazing chapters, and I could recognise things I'd seen on the show, and it was amazing. I think this may be one of my favourite books so far, but I've still got a few to go.

This book, together with the second part, is... SO good. So many plot twists, everyone is fighting with each other, treaties get broken by the minute. I love it. My favourite character developments were Jaime (which surprised me the most, because I absolutely HATED him in the first two books), Tyrion, Sansa en Jon and Robb (through Catelyn's eyes, obviously).
And with the ending of this book, I cannot WAIT to see how the story continues.
Definitely 5/5 stars!
