Ahoy there me mateys! This be the eighteenth book in me Ports for Plunder - 19 Books in 2019 list. When I went to read this book, I realized that there was a problem. I didn't actually own it like I thought I did! I currently have a self-imposed rule that I can only buy books that I know I will reread and they have to be in ebook form (library book sales being the exception). Also I be in the midst of a hold tally of all the books I own in both ebook and physical forms and don't want to buy another book until it be complete. So I decided to download an Amazon sample to see if it be good enough to spend me loot. Usually Amazon samples be dangerous because I read, fall in love, and immediately buy the book. Sadly the answer was no to this book. It has promise but not enough for the expensive ebook price. The crew reviews seem to be all 3 stars and up but none of the local libraries have a copy. As I only read the sample, I am not even including this book in the tally of reads for the year. The only reason this post is being written is because of it was on the 19 in 2019 list. What I read didn't excite me so I am going to abandon this one for now. And maybe for always. Arrrr!
Side note: Only one more to go!!

I’ve read so many good time travel books and this one is no exception! It wrapped things up for me but not too neatly. Totally opposite of that terrible time travel book by Joyce Carol Oates I read recently. I was engrossed the entire time!
“Sometimes, we have a moral duty to break the rules. Particularly where the rulemakers are corrupt.”
representation: Indian lesbian MC, bipolar disorder, PTSD, Black MC.

I have one thing to say.... LESBIAN TIME TRAVELLERS. This was really fun and different! It was really interesting seeing what life would be like if time travelling were possible, but I found it a little slow and honestly a little confusing at times haha
trigger warnings: murder, gore, self-harm, racism, loss of loved ones (heart attack).

A unique, clever, and very fun book about a group of women who invent time travel, a cruel and somewhat cultlike institution, and a murder mystery. Definitely will have to revisit this book again in the future.
Had I known this includes Lesbian River Song I would have read this book earlier

This is one of those books that I enjoyed, but I don't think I fully understood it?! I liked the overall plot and storylines, but did struggle with so much time jumping and so many characters. Also, time travel just makes everything trippy and slightly difficult to wrap your brain around, so there's that. I think a lot would become more clear on a re-read, but I'm also not sure I'll ever feel up to tackling this one again!

This was cute, though like much time travel it got fairly convoluted. It did a good job at trying to keep everything clear though.
The audiobook narrator, however, created two character voices that were distractingly terrible. Both sounded like they had exaggerated stuffy noses. It was so bad.

This was a fun little time travel/murder mystery book made extra fun by the queer and mental health representation.
I enjoyed this audiobook, though sometimes I was confused what timeline we were in.

I've read a few book this year within in the time travel genre (if that's a thing?) and, while I enjoyed this one and the ins and outs, it sort of lost me at the end...quite literally. I kept thinking I was missing some piece of information. That said, I should have just slowed down a bit!
