Hidden Figures meets The Tone Travelors wife in this complicated time travel mystery. I enjoyed the world building and interesting cast of characters from all timelines. If you had no problem following the Time Travelers wife, pick this one up when it is out in February, 2019!

i think this is a right-book-at-the-right-time situation for me. its a little quirky but i loved it. It has a very thought through theory on hoe time travel will effect the time traveler mentally and its very interesting. Bonus points for like 99% of the characters being women, a diverse set of characters and some sapphic content.
A thoroughly enjoyable time travelling mystery.
Starting in 1967, 4 female scientists perfect the art of time travel and change the course of history forever. However, after one of the "Pioneers" suffers a mental breakdown on live t.v, their friendships are irreversibly changed. After the 'Conclave' is established by the pioneers a new hierarchy is put in place and dangerous games are being played...one of which will spell tragedy for the Conclave and put the whole organisation into jeopardy.
I was hooked from the first page, I loved the idea and the characters (both friendly and awful) and the complexities of the Conclave, it wasnt what I expecting from a time travel novel and there were lots of surprises and clever connections with characters.
Would definitely recommend as a great easy read.

I was wary of this book due to the negative reviews but I found that I really enjoyed the science-fiction mystery. The author used the time travel in a clever way to reveal a death and then slowly leak clues. There are a lot of timelines and POV to keep track of and a lot of the characters tend to be related or in relationships.
This book is a time travel story with a thriller twist spread over three timelines. We join the story in 1967 with four female scientists who are developing a means of time travel however, on the cusp of becoming pioneers in the industry one of them suffers a mental breakdown calling the validity of the research into question.
Along with the pioneers, we meet two further characters in Ruby, a grandchild of the scientist who had a breakdown and Odette a university student who discovers a body with no explanation for the preceding events.
This story is beautifully written with a strength of character, purpose and plot so compelling, it was hard at times to put it down and return to the real world. @Katemascarenhas has an ability to interweve both plot and sub-plot seemlessly to draw you deeper and deeper into the story whilst the sub-characters add depth and detail to the overall story.
I greatly appreciated the strength and determination of the predominantly female cast of characters, this is not something you often see in this genre and I felt it was handled with great gravitas and respect.
If you pick up one time travel book this year, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
