"You know, I don't like every dinosaur on this continent. Just like I don't like every person on Earthasia. Doesn't mean I should kill them though, does it?"
I’ve read worse sequels. A ringing endorsement, right?
There were elements in this book that were better than the first. I was waaaay more upset for the character that dies in this book than I ever was for Rue in the hunger games. The action was still awesome. Oooh! And we got another female character.
But then the other stuff? Well… for starters a third of the last book was about the fact they only found two eggs. And then at the start of this one they had all three?! I’ve just never read a plot whole so massive.
And while I was excited about the new girl character, Storm was completely ruined!! In danger she just froze. Every time! I wanted to scream at her.
Overall, this wasn’t a well written book. But I can overlook A LOT for good action. And I still want to read the finale so that’s good, right?

DINOSAURS, OH MY!

Wow am I so happy I found this series! It’s pure entertainment for me (as a dinosaur fanatic) to get to read these. I love the dystopian-type setting and the exploration of Piloria.
Once again we have our two main characters, Lincoln and Stormchaser. I still liked them this time around. Though it looks like there might be some feelings there and I want more exploration of that. More exploration of all the characters interactions and musings. It’s a continual high stakes read with being chased by dinosaurs and surviving in the wild, that I’m realizing I’m not getting a lot of character connection.
I did see it come out towards the end and am so happy that it went the direction I was hoping. I think Strom and Lincoln both have some big decisions to make and it has amped up the finale. This series is overall an intriguing premise and I will practically read anything that involves dinosaurs.
Overall audience notes:
- Young adult dystopia
- Language: none
- Romance: none
- Violence: dinosaur attacks, endemic of a skin disease, physical/weapon attacks

This book was not as good as the first. However, sequels never are. Looking forward to the final installment.
as things back in Earthasia progress after Storm and Lincoln return from their trials in Piloria.
secrets unfold every step of the way, especially once their feet are back on Piloria land.
this was a pretty meh sequel in my opinion. the writing is still not good, especially the dialogue. I felt lost in feelings when characters would communicate with each other. I was unsure if they were upset or being friendly. there were a lot of repeats along with multiple scenes where the characters did the same movements.
I.E. Storm always bites her lips or put her hands on her hips, Lincoln loves to run his fingers through his own hair and Octavious likes to wave his hand(s) while speaking.
I classify this as an ‘pass the time between a last book and book release’ read. I wasn’t super excited about it, but I will continue with the series at some point this year.

More 3.5 stars but I rounded up.
The first half was too slow for me, with a lot of narration being repeated (to the reader then to other characters, several times).
However, it got a lot better in the second half, with lots of action and dinosaurs! Sometimes a bit too much action for me as I couldn't always follow along with what was happening.
Overall though I really enjoyed the story and I really liked that ending!

Wowza, this was a really good follow up to that first book. It definitely kept the momentum and pace going throughout and I managed to fly through it in a couple of hours. This is definitely one of those books that you cannot put down once you've started and you need to get to the end.
I have to be honest, Lincoln was driving me nuts to begin with, there was something about his characterisation where I just wanted to keep shaking him. But by the end he'd really grown on me again and it was Storm who was driving me nuts. Lincoln seemed to go through a growth throughout the story but was always true to himself; he was there surely to protect and look out for his sister. He was clear on that from the start and never hid his motivation. Storm's characterisation honestly seemed to be a little all over the place for me? Whereas in the first book she was smart and driven, with this one she just felt utterly lost. That could be attributed to the fact that she was now closer to her father than ever before, but she just seemed a bit different.
I still loved them both though, although honestly I expected more romance to play a part in this book, so they're either not going to do it at all or it's going to be rushed in the last book. I enjoyed the new characters and their dynamics in this story. Especially Storm's father; he was such an interesting character and it was intriguing to find out that he had no idea about Storm until she told him. And then, every action he took was to try and protect Storm. I'm looking forward to seeing more of their dynamics in the next book, especially given the ending.
This was a really good addition to the series and really ramped the pressure up for these characters. Cannot wait for the conclusion to the series!!!
