Toll.
My German teacher told me about the movie and I knew that I had to read the book when I found it. The dialect makes it a more advanced read.

Hans Pfeiffer is a succesful writer. He has never gone to school, because he was home-schooled. While drinking Feuerzangenbowle with friends, he realises that he missed out. Consequently, he decides to dress up as a student and to go to school. He is a troublemaker and ends up ruling over the school and chasing after the director's daughter.

I wished that the last part of the book was removed or different, because I didn't like it.

Komisch.

This book is an ode of praise to schools, but it is possible that schools won't notice this).

Yes, it's true: This book is a large part of the reason why I decided to become a teacher. Not because I wanted to be a teacher like the stern authoritarian Masters in this book, no, but because it IS a lovesong to what schools are and mean and what they represent, and the hold they have in people's mind long after the last bell sounded even today- or rather, what they can mean, if we let it.

To me, it is a reminder of the blessing that I get to work with these young people every day and get to spend their youth with them, such exciting and fraught and wild times, and it shows everything I love about school very well.

The language is beautiful, too.

(true are also the memories we carry; the dreams we spin and the yearnings which drive us).
