I appreciate reading non fiction about people who I think live their lives well. This was one such book. And I liked it better than the last book I read about cancer and death. What I have a hard time fully understanding, though, is the lengths to which humans go to have or try to have biological offspring. It honestly comes off to me as (temporary?) insanity. But who am I to judge? Everyone is just a person.🤷‍♀️

Watching Tig Notaro interviews on YouTube is one of my favorite lunchtime pastimes. I think she's hilarious. Also there was a year of her life when the crap just kept coming. C-Diff, her mother's passing, a break-up, and then breast cancer. I mean, that's a lot to type let alone experience
.
So I had to read i'm just a person to learn more after finishing her show on Amazon Prime, One Mississipppi, which was loosely based on her life. Her strength and general resolve to just deal with life as it is is pretty inspiring.
.
Thanks for sharing Tig! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love Tig’s comedy, and I loved One Mississippi when it was on Amazon (not happy about that cancellation), so it was no surprise that I loved this book. I also really resonated with how her life turned upside down in a small amount of time and didn’t realize how much I needed to hear her tell her story.

Really interesting memoir about Tig Notaro, a stand up comedian who had the year from hell. Very poignant.

Not much to it if you've seen the documentary on her. Also, surprisingly horrible narration by the author... so if you do read it, don't do audiobook.

Laughed as much as I cried

Well, I was already a Tig fan for her comedy and her show One Mississippi, and I was already familiar with the basics about her year from hell that is described in this book, but after reading it in a few sittings, I'm an even bigger fan and in complete fucking awe of this woman. Honestly, she is a storyteller of immense talent, and her voice is so damn unique and engaging. What she experienced over the course of a few months was utterly unbelievable-- and even more so that someone can come out of it all with a completely intact sense of humor. This was the perfect quick read on a couple hot summer days in which I just wanted to lose myself in someone else's story. What a powerful one.
