Wow!

I figured out who Brass was pretty early after the first set of flowers but holy Batman I didn’t see the 180 coming at the 80% mark. Loved the story hope book 2 is about this same couple!

In TuDawgs we are thrown into the recently imploded world of Melody "Neicy" Anderson. Neicy has recently been outed as the mistress to the disgraced Lieutenant Governor Francis Tattersall. Tattersall is caught stealing funds from a charity Melody works for to fuel his drug habit, and to allegedly lavishly keep Melody, his hot young mistress. After being tightly caught up in the fall out of the scandal and investigation, Melody has moved back home to live with her mother. Melody and her mother have had a strained relationship all along and this new colossal embarrassment has put an even greater strain on their relationship. Although cleared of any criminal charges, Melody is still haunted by the press looking for any new salacious tidbit that she can give. The court of public opinion has judged Melody as being no better than a modern day Jezebel who corrupted an otherwise upstanding civic leader by leading him into adultery and drugs which led to the destruction of both his career and his family.

There is, of course, much more to the story than what is printed in newspapers and reported on the news. Neicy is left to deal with the things that she is guilty of as well as what she's been falsely blamed for. She has to somehow find a way to move on from the shame and embarrassment to herself and her family in a small town where everyone knows each other's business. Neicy has been determined to guard her heart from an early age and she is definitely paying the price. As a start to her new existence post scandal, Neicy is working at TuSDawgs, her uncle's hot dog stand at the county fair. It's at the county fair that Neicy meets "Carnie" and things take off from there.

Carnie is just the bad boy type that Neicy has sworn off. Tattoos, beautiful eyes, and cockiness are not what she needs in her life, but there's an immediate attraction between them she can't ignore. Deciding that having a hot affair with a bad boy carnival worker may not be all that bad since they only had a week before the fair moves on. Neicy decides to throw caution out the window and have a pleasurable not strings attached fling. Little does Neicy know that their connection will prove to be stronger and their history longer than she first suspected. Carnie has secrets and complications of his own that will come to light and threaten the tentative bond that they are quickly forming.

TuDawgs' proved to be a story of redemption, self-forgiveness, and the journey to finding your own meaning of happiness despite bad decisions and missteps we make along the way. Although there are steamy sex scenes in this one they were not the main focus. Neicy's relationship with her mother, her relatives, herself, and even her deceased father are all woven together to make up a large part of the story. Things happens quickly in TuDawgs and the story is left a little open ended but you get a complete and satisfying read. I'll gladly continue on to the next book in this series when it becomes available this Fall.
