I was pleasantly surprised by this techno thriller. It is one of the few books I have read recently that completely twists in the middle and really takes off to a sci-fi adventure. Great read

Gary Stu protag, stereotypical and unfulfilling romatic relationship, very interesting idea with a forehead smack of a kinda braindead explanation and then a confusing ending that feels unrelated to the tone of the entire rest of the book. Rating is almost solely based on the strength of the basic idea that kicks off the novel, not for execution.

Easily the worst sci-fi story I've read - what a drag. The science behind this story was lazy at best, and the ending was ridiculously overcomplicated and disappointing. It got to a point where I only continued reading in hopes that we'd get to see the "genius" protagonist die. All female characters were written like sex dolls, and the random disjointed inclusion of "romance" in this story was an unnecessary distraction from the pathetic progression of the plot. How this book has attained anything beyond a two star average is beyond me.

I previously read "14" and really enjoyed it, so I was excited to finally read this and it did not disappoint! I love how Peter Clines develops his characters - you really feel like you know them and you're right there with them. Add to that an exciting Sci-Fi plot that builds and builds to a whopper of an ending. A fantastic adventure! The audiobook narrator, Ray Porter, is one of my absolute favorites.

Pretty darn good. I liked the tie-ins to [b:14|15062217|14|Peter Clines|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1338999953s/15062217.jpg|20716929] a lot. Very readable and entertaining. 4 solid stars.

I really enjoyed this. Which is saying a lot because I loved 14. Though I think I liked this one more than 14

This book seems to throw you right into the weirdness. I feel like Mike as a narrator also really worked, which is surprising because most characters who have eidetic memory could be obnoxious but he was actually really likable and actually hated having the eidetic memory

I’ll probably read the other two books, but I’m not sure if I’ll read it in publication order or timeline order. But I liked this one a LOT

Not sure why people say it peters out at the final two-thirds, this was a bit better than 14. Luckily I read 14 first, so when a certain character from there showed up much changed, I was happily horrified. Wouldn't have had the same effect the other way around.

Still the same old stock characters, but just as fun.

It's as fun as the book 14... I'm really enjoying this author. The end action sequences got a little tedious, but not much of a complaint compared to the rest of the book.
