Gary Stu protag, stereotypical and unfulfilling romatic relationship, very interesting idea with a forehead smack of a kinda braindead explanation and then a confusing ending that feels unrelated to the tone of the entire rest of the book. Rating is almost solely based on the strength of the basic idea that kicks off the novel, not for execution.

Warning: Bugs. Lots of bugs. This book is obsessed with them so if that's a phobia drop it now.

This is an incredibly cringe book, that's utterly detached from reality when it's not dealing with the sci-fi and completely mundane when it is. Filled with too much dialogue, and endless pop culture references. Every character is 1 dimensional consisting of a character trait and a hobby. The women's character traits tend to be that they're women though. Very attractive women.

You will figure the plot of this book out 10 pages in, and you will gain nothing from finishing it.

This has been kind of rambling but shout out to when they're carrying a dead body, find out the body was of a "hermaphrodite", and then they all announce that they're turned off and not horny now.

I’m really enjoying the Threshold series! Peter Clines writes characters really well— they’re fleshed out, interesting, and genuinely funny sometimes. I also want to give Ray Porter a shout out again, he is an awesome narrator and definitely adds to my enjoyment of these books.
