I did not expect to like this book as much as I did, if at all. I thought it was a beautiful but horrific critique of society and touched on many different subjects without being pretentious. I really loved this book but will never ever read it again.

I was blown away by this book, it was nothing like I expected. It was so powerful and I think a lot of aspects of this book will stick with me forever. At first I was annoyed because there's so much that is not found out until halfway or farther through the book, but I begin to appreciate the way the truth came out, even though it was slow. I feel like I need to read it again!

Good lord, what a book. What a ride! I'm not sure how to rate it. It's so different to the movie, which I recommend seeing first, because the book tells you so much more about the world, and yet the book contains so much more and still manages to keep you guessing THE ENTIRE WAY. It was a beautiful ending (which is a weird thing to say ... you'll know what I mean) and a lot more impactful than the movie. The themes are so strong and so VISUAL I suppose so it translates well to film, though the film really only imparts a few aspects of the themes in the book. I just can't believe Faber won't be writing any more books! What a writer. At times it felt rudimentary in its descriptions, at other times it was vivid and spot on. The switching of perspectives is quite masterful really. Oh, and if any book is going to make you a vegetarian it's this one. Christ, don't read while eating. My god.

Damn. Very different than the film, but all the same themes were touched upon. The ending had me frowning, but in a good way.
