“I’d wish to be a true Grisha again, of course——but short of that, I’d settle for a lock on my chamber door.”

OUCH. YIKE.

I can’t believe I didn’t know this short story existed. I love Genya with all of my heart, she truly is such an underrated character.

I think Genya's character and story are both quite interesting, yet this novella is too short and too simple to truly make use of that.
Although this story did give some well-needed insights, it definitely had the potential to be better. Unfortunately, it just ended up being slightly disappointing and perhaps even a bit boring.

It hurts, but I can bear it. Because I am a doll and a servant. Because I am a pretty thing and a soldier all the same.

Totally amazing novella telling us about Genya. Showing us parts of stuff that we have seen, but this time through Genya's eyes, but we also learn more of her past. :D

I loved this little insight into Genya. Spending so much time in Alina's head where she's pretty isolated and no one talks honestly and openly, it was nice to get a deeper feel of one of my favorite side characters.
