Polly's relationship has failed, her business has failed, she is homeless, bankrupt and living on the couch of her all too perfect best friend. Desperate to escape her woes and start rebuilding she rents a ramshackle apartment above a shop on a bleak windswept island.
With nothing else to do, she returns to the love of her life, baking bread. At first she gives it away or trades it but over time she finds she has a small business. But she has to avoid the despotic owner of the town's other bakery who just happens to be her landlord.
Little Beach Street Bakery was quite a magical story about a woman who, in doing what she loves most, manages to revive the fortunes of a small fishing town. It's not all that surprising but with characters I genuinely loved I found myself well and truly pulled into the story and had to set aside a couple of other books I'm reading just so I could focus all my attention on this.

I thought this book was okay. It was a fun and easy read but it was not my favorite book by her. The book was a bit longer than it needed to be. But overall it was okay and I actually wasn't able to put it down at times because this kind of book (feelgood books) is addictive.
Some of the characters were bland in my opinion but others were more interesting. I liked Neil, Kerensa, Jayden and Gillian the most. Some of the others were a bit similar to some of the characters in The Little Shop Of Happy Ever After by the same author.
But I think it is a perfect book to read during the summer!

Solid 3.5 stars… I liked it, didn’t love it, and it has a puffin in it!!!
This book just did not click for me. The only character I liked was the Puffin.
This is a real feel good book. Polly, the main character, really draws you in, you feel the pain and heartbreak she is going through. However all of the characters are likeable, even towards the end you feel a connection with Gillian, the person who seems to hate everyone. As you're reading it you feel like you are there at the bakery or watching the boats sail out of the harbour. The only downside to this happening is when you have to put your book down once your lunch break at work is over and you spend the rest of the day wishing you were at the beach rather than sat in front of a computer.
The underlying love story between Polly and Huckle is so relate-able it only makes them seem more real. How stubborn and clueless you can be about your feelings towards someone and their feelings towards you. You feel yourself hoping they get together as soon as they meet but they keep you hanging.
The recipes at the back of the book was such a lovely touch, you can almost smell the bread Polly is baking as you're reading the book, but now you can make it yourself with the easy to follow recipes. Highly recommend.

Such a cute little read. Made my heart feel really full, warm and, fuzzy. I loved all the characters, and Polly, the main character was exceptionally written. I picked this book up on a whim and I’m so glad I did. Sometimes these little hidden gems just find you.
