This was such a cute, feel-good book! It had enough plot twists to keep it interesting as well.

This felt like a cookie cutter sugary sweet Lifetime movie, but sometimes that's just what you need in your life. I really enjoyed listening to this one.
I took a star off for two reasons: first, the romance was really, really lacking. The chemistry was not there and it was just not exciting in any way.
Second, the narrator was not my favorite. Her voice, tone, and accent don't really suit this story, and her male voices were just... bad. It's hard to get into a romance with a faux-gruff goofy pseudo southern accent.
Overall, it was quaint and a fun listen.

Fun, sweet story that was a wonderful break from some heavy reading I've been doing recently. Looking forward to reading the sequel to it!
Just adored this one! Didn't want it to end. I could read about Mount Polbearne off the cost of Cornwall in England and its inhabitants again and again. It's the story of a young woman and a town, both bankrupt and in dying relationships, who find and save each other. Polly and her love for baking bread is the catalyst for new life in the town, which gives her new life. I applaud the author not being afraid to let tragedy hit this seaside town as it inevitably does in real life. And who wouldn't love a story that has a puffin named Neil stealing scenes right and left? It does contain obligatory recipes for some of the bread so lovingly described, and there are assurances at the end that they are indeed the author's own tried and true recipes, suggesting that she is just as crazy for breadmaking as the protagonist, but they really aren't necessary. Although I might just have to try the corn fritters.
