I picked this book up last year solely because of some reels I saw about it. I was shocked when I ended up absolutely loving it! Even after only reading it once, I’ve been recommending this book to everyone asking for holiday book recs. I’m always scared to reread books because I don’t know if it’ll be as good the second time around. I can confirm this book hits just as good the second time! I ate this up like it was my first time reading it. I can’t stand insta love but the connection these two have?! You just know and feel like they are meant to be. I kept forgetting they knew each other for less than a month. I love the brotherhood between the guys. I love the friendship between the girls. I love how in both groups they weren’t afraid to be honest with each other. Frankie is soooo cocky. If he was anyone else, he would be a total f boy. But because he’s him? It just WORKS. I loved the banter between him and O. I loved that she could dish it right back. I loved how Frankie was both a total gentleman and also an absolute freak lol. He was so good to Ophelia, despite everything he was dealing with. The steam?!?!?!? This book is a fast and furious slow burn. It is just as steamy the second time around. My reread only solidified that I need Mateo and Natalia’s book like yesterday. And same with the Swan boys. I think I’ll reread this every Christmas now because it really just brought me so much joy. This is one of the rare cases when insta love = soulmates.

This book caught me by total surprise. I saw a few really really good reviews / reels on Instagram about this book and it sounded like it was right up my alley. It seemed a little long, but I figured it would be a good book to squeeze in before Christmas. I finished it in a day and a 2 hours before work this AM lol. This freaking book was incredible! You know that feeling when you start a book and you are immediately in love with it? You just know it’s going to be good? That’s the feeling I got when I started this book. I was hooked from the very start. Ophelia and Frankie (not a fan of the names) have chemistry like no other. Their banter and their teasing was just so cute. I felt like I was witnessing a real life love story. Ophelia and Natalie, her bff, are bat shit crazy and I love them! My life has calmed down a lot since college, but boy do I remember the days of going out dancing with your besties and just doing whatever the heck you wanted to do. I loved Mateo and Frankie’s relationship too. There’s just something about those military / brotherhood friendships that can’t be beat. I love how their friends were both warning them not to get feelings and basically trying to help them keep their heads on straight, but were also very supportive of their respective friends since they noticed something more was going on. This book takes place over a handful of weeks, but you would never know it. Despite being a lover of Hallmark movies, insta love situations give me the ick. I can’t stand them. These two? Could not convince me that they aren’t absolutely meant to be together. Sure they have that initial spark on the plane, but that chemistry continues and not only do they have freaking fireworks physical chemistry but emotional chemistry as well. They both have traumas from their pasts, and they were both opening up to each other as if they’d known each other for forever. And the steam? THE STEAM? I would say this book is a red hot slow burn. They don’t really hook up until the middle of the book, but holy cow the book is spicy the entire way through. They do all the things. Frankie has a filthy mouth on him and he even says that he’s not normally like this but somehow always says what he’s thinking to her. I think that just goes to show how much they ended up trusting each other and how comfortable they got with each other. There were so many times that a 3rd act break up could’ve happened, but from reading other reviews I knew I was safe from that. Thank goodness! I mean the guy is 35 and she’s 26 and decently mature. One of my favorite things about them is despite both of them completely disregarding the rules they put in place for themselves, they weren’t going around lying to each other just to protect themselves. He didn’t randomly pop off and say she didn’t mean anything and that it was just sex. They actually communicated how they were feeling and that was refreshing. Nothing bothers me more than a miscommunication trope, especially when it’s over something dumb. While the ending seemed like a lot going on / semi rushed, I wasn’t even bothered by it. I’m such a sucker for grand gestures. I absolutely fell in love with these two. I was worried about this book being 400+ pages and getting it finished before Christmas and I finished it in a day + waking up early for work the next day. I 100% need books about the Swan boys next (Sam??). Overall, from the reviews, I thought I would really enjoy this book. I didn’t expect to absolutely love it or to have it take over a whole 24 hours of my life. This book was everythinggg and now I’m going to have to find something to match it to keep my spirits up before Christmas.
