Excertos:

«Eu não podia apontar o dedo a ninguém.

Eu tinha-a amado.

I read this in german class and one man whom I came to loathe over the course of the... course, raved about this book as a "sensual, erotic work", which is such a misunderstanding and also such oversharing that it made me feel a bit sick at the time. This book is about coming to terms with how your memories contrast with reality, how things that once seemed sweet can turn dark once you have to bring them back into the light. Powerful, but a tough read. At times, very very heavy.

It is a tragic story of lost innocence, guilt, and regret. Hanna is a mysterious older woman who becomes involved with a young, 15-year old boy named Michael. Michael is drawn in by Hanna's mystery and enjoys reading to her during their meetings. When Hanna appears again a few years later--to Michael's horror and surprise--she is not who he thought she was. Or was she? I miss this kind of story where the characters are mysterious and secretive and they never truly reveal their feelings throughout the story.

Honestly... I don't know how to feel about this book. Its odd. Made me uncomfy. I did enjoy the writing style, and it was a quick read, but I don't know if it resonated with me. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. And the relationship is just so... gross? Like after part one I began to get much more interested in the story. I'm not sure how to feel to be honest.
