PLEASE READ TRIGGER WARNINGS AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS BOOK BEFORE READING IT!!!!!

It’s a great mafia book, this is not the first book I read of Ria and I truly enjoyed it (I actually enjoyed quite a lot her other books) l, the story is good, since the beginning it grabs you and it’s quite easy to read, you don’t get tired of reading it and it has the perfect amount of spice and plot to keep you hooked. I will keep reading her books and I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for dark mafia romance!

Povestea asta a fost fix pe sufletul meu și exact ce mi-am dorit în perioada asta.❤️‍

It was really good! I look forward to reading other books from her.

The beginning of the book hooked me, but as I continued to read, I slowly became more disappointed. I don’t see how this is classified as a dark romance? Sure, there is a forced marriage and some violence. Other than that, nothing.

It really irritates me that Gabriel is supposed to be this tough, untouchable boss, but pretty much knows who the traitor is and let’s him waltz around under his nose. Not screaming mafia boss to me. It nearly costs him his wife’s life for christ’s sake. Though, I was pleased that the traitor was Asher and not the other twin or both. I definitely thought it would be that predictable.

I didn’t understand the whole pelvic injury thing. It would have to be a hit from an Avenger to cause that kind of damage, right? Even a straddle injury would need to be caused by momentum and a hard object. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Then again, I definitely questioned ‘why there?’ the whole scene. It was an odd choice to me.

Gabriel also didn’t seem to try and bond with her son until after they had sex and she started to open up to him. Sir, he is still your nephew regardless. He almost never spoke about him by name, either. It was always “the child” or “the boy”.

I did enjoy how he did things for her to make her happy. It was sweet. Again, not screaming dark romance when he’s doing that the whole book and they just have hot sex.

I loved the slow burn between the FMC and MMC she took absolutely no shit and I loved that about her. The plot was intense but so well thought out. The FMC past was also a small plot line, that I honestly don’t feel was necessary but on the same hand it also worked really well. This book also had my FAVORITE line from an MMC “who hurt you?” And the touch her and die vibes were top tier. Not a fan of the audio book BUT I would read it again.

I wanted to start this year with a dark romance, don’t ask me why 🙈. Haven’t read one in awhile so I wanted to get back into it. 🤭

This book, for the most part, delivered exactly what it promised! There was tension, questionable choices, red flags everywhere. Again, I know what I signed up for. 🥳 For a dark romance, it was truly dark. Surely, there were lighter scenes but for the most part, there were some heavily violent scenes. So definitely check out the trigger warnings provided by the author!

The relationship between the two main characters was quite explosive. Both  context and conditions of them meeting, as mentioned, were very questionable. But then again, I’m not the moral police and we’re here for the vibes lmao. 🫣 It was interesting seeing how obsessed with her Gabriel became.  Likewise, with Amelia. 😏 I never thought these characters were ever going to be able to catch a break, to be honest, because something wrong would always happen.

The potential was great. In fact, my issues surprisingly are not about any characters. Although usually I am able to overlook editing issues when reading for fun and vibes, somethings here were throwing me off. The main issue, which I found quite confusing at times, was that the tense would change even within the same paragraph. Again, sometimes I could be willing to overlook this. Especially if it doesn’t happen often. However, it was throwing me out of the story because it was very frequent. 😭 and I felt so bad because I really wanted to enjoy this more 😢..

I’m not trying to be mean and absolutely nothing negative about the lovely author! In fact, I am more than happy and willing to check out the other books she’s written! ☺️ I’m just hoping this was a singular issue with this book. As it’s my first book by this author, I’m not sure if it happens elsewhere 🙈😩.

I am very excited for the other guys who are getting  books in the same universe though! There is a specific one I’m soooo excited to read about 👀❤️

I love a good MY WIFE moment, with a sprinkle of WHO DID THIS TO YOU?
