I liked the writing style, I wasn't a fan of the snakes perspective.

Just wanted to say MAJOR props to the designers of the hardcover edition. The paper on the inside is green and textured like snakeskin and if you take off the book jacket you can see a sweet surprise on the front AND back cover. Truly truly stunning and thoughtful to compliment a truly stunning and heartfelt, creative, and touching novel.

I can never say enough good things about Darcie Little Badger's writing and storytelling abilities!!!

Another absolute legend of a book from Darcie Little Badger. If you want a found family adventure that blends two worlds into one, this is for you. Also I may have to switch careers to amphibian conservation now.

This book took me awhile to get into, but once I did, the story was great. Animal people from the Reflecting World can cross over, and Cottonmouth does to try to save his toad friend, Ami. Once they get Nina on their side, he and his friends work to save the toads on Earth, while avoiding hunters and hurricanes. The interweaving of story, ancient, fantastic, and current, in reality beautiful once I found my grounding.

Suprisingly disappointing. I loved the premise, had a hard time relating to the character or feeling the importance of the storytelling. I also felt like some of the events were too random to reconcile with the plot.

I finished this book in three days during hell week just because I couldn't put it down. Loved the characters and the switching povs, and I love Darcie Little Badger's work.
