It is good to read about this time in sports history when girls and women were increasingly given opportunities to participate in sports. Some of the writing in this book seemed clunky in parts. Overall a good book written about a worthy topic!
Such a loving and respectful look at a part of football history that has been ignored and ridiculed for so long.
This should be a fascinating story but I tapped out about a third of the way through. The writing style feels like a book report rather than journalism.

As a fan of women's sports I had no clue the NWFL existed. Many thanks to the authors for giving these athletes the care and attention they deserve.

Informative, but not boring. It’s written in such a way that makes it enjoyable to learn about the National Women’s Football League without feeling like you need a ton of background to be able to access the heart of what de la Cretaz and D’Arcangelo wanted to get across. It’s best encompassed by their words on page 8 “…this is the story of the women who played the game, the glory and pain it brought them, and, ultimately, what it meant to them.” This book is real—it doesn’t pretend that the NWFL was perfect but rather tells the story as it is and was in a beautiful and honoring way.
