A sweet little summer read. The ending was a bit meh for me, and the baking contest scenes were a touch anticlimactic. It was neat reading a rom-com set in Canada…made some of the inside jokes extra funny since I could relate. The Asian cultural representation was also great. Lots of steamy scenes. Overall, the story was a bit contrived (and the off again/on again “conflict” so late in the book seemed unnecessary) but not anything I wouldn’t have expected from this genre. Donut mode your chance to read this fun romance novel.

I really didn’t fall in love with the characters, and I felt like the overall story was cute but lacked real connection.

So cute. I love the baking trope.

I loved this contemporary!! The sexual content wasn't nice for me but other than that, a perfect romance story (AND WE ACTUALLY GET DOUGHNUT CONTENT)

  • I wanted to like this so badly bc I like the plot idea and the theme of talking about Asian rep in the media (and other things like postpartum depression)- but the writing was just not good. All tell, not show.
