Simply amazing. I can't think of any other words to describe this. Biographies and memoirs are not typically my thing, but this was mind-bendingly, life-changingly well done.

This book addresses apartheid, poverty, the hood, systemic racism, and Christianity. There are no statistics or 90-second news stories about apartheid that will come close to this book in terms of understanding its motive, effectiveness, and lasting impact on South African life.

As a narrator, Trevor Noah is not only funny, but emotional and wonderfully eloquent. I was moved to tears and laughed out loud. Loved this book.

I recommend listening to the audiobook. It was very well done.

Incredibly perceptive look at South Africa and race as a social construct, recounted with wit and a comedian’s storytelling craft.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read!! I've always known that Trevor is a great storyteller but it's very evident in this book.

Growing up, I didn't learn much about apartheid (heck u @ american education system) so I learned a lot through Trevor's stories. Although this book is about Trevor, the main star of this book to me is Trevor's mom, Patricia. What a women - so resilient.
