His humour and writing is so engaging and real I love it. A delight to read. No particular lesson but insight into new things I didn’t know about, like apartheid, racism and classism in South Africa, how being poor is a self perpetuating cycle. But also his mom is such an inspiration I feel like I would like her she is the first take no shit independent woman, but fearless and brave and giving person and a delight she’s my role model

One of the best Autobiographies I've ever read. I read this book via audiobook, which Trevor Noah narrates, and I would highly recommend it!
Trevor Noah tells stories from his life growing up a mixed kid in South Africa during apartheid. He included a lot of history along with his fun anecdotes, and I feel like I know waaaaayy more about apartheid than I did going into it. He also is a very funny person. I'm not sure I'd call the book funny, because it deals with a lot of hardship, but the way he tells stories is humorous. Sometimes I wasn't sure if I was going to laugh or cry.
Everyone should read this book. Even if you don't particularly like him on the Daily Show, the book tells a fascinating story of a kid who grew up being proof of his parents crime in a not too distant past. I think you can enjoy this book regardless of your American Politics because the entire story is set in South Africa.

Phenomenal! What a life story. I can’t wait for the movie. Even while reading I thought to myself how great of a movie Trevor and his mom’s life story would make.

This book was fantastic. Trevor is an incredible story teller. Lots of humor and depth, and I learned a ton about South Africa. Let it be known that Trevor’s mom is the most important character in this book — she is my hero. I also like that Trevor didn’t downplay his mom’s strong faith. Wasn’t expecting this book to be such a testimony to God’s faithfulness, but go off.
