I love Trevor's reading of this. You can definitely feel his emotions as the book goes on. Had me laughing and crying! Highly recommend!

I’ve never read a celebrity memoir that didn’t cover the part of their life where they become a celebrity. This book is definitely dark and challenging at times and somewhat repetitive. The timeline (or lack thereof) is quite confusing.

What a fascinating read (listen). I had no idea how much I didn't know about apartheid, and I'll be reading more. As far as this book goes, on the personal level, I found his writing about his lion of a mother to be moving and powerful and the funny anecdotes on the whole to the book's detriment. But the broader cultural discussion, the linguistics, being born and raised in that particular political moment, the impact of global institutional racism on South African society and especially in that particular time in history - I could have listened to him talk about all that for hours. More hours!
