I enjoy Ms. Carriger's sense of humor. Reading one of her books is always a treat! Looking forward to Timeless.

This book took me a while to read, and it wasn't really that it was the book itself, more that I had gotten into a hard patch in my life at the time I started to read this book. Though while I still loved the book, it wasn't one of my fav's I think the best part was the last few chapters. It just didn't seem like the typical Alexia book. Well still though I can't to read the next one.

Not as bad as I anticipated as an anti-fan of pregnancy storylines in media and just like....pregnancy and babies in general. Anyway, most of Alexia's pages were just her being fat and physically incompetent which got old after a while. But overall I did like the progression of the plot/world, however slow and shallow it might have been. A fun read, but I'm glad to move on to the next one. Hopefully Alexia can spend more time out about about causing havoc!

Maccon also throws the blame around again in this one, but he does better than he did in Changeless. Despite being inconveniently absent and supposedly in great shock, he does come back and provide much needed help (unlike the last time), and expresses the things I wanted him to say before he up and ditched Alexia to well, semi-sulk.
Other than that, the final scene is chaotic and hectic and funny.
Review to come.

Most consistently excellent use of the word "waddle" ever.

I always enjoy plunging into this world that Gail Carriger has built, combining steampunk, supernatural characters, and a nicely complex society involving vampires and werewolves sharing (or trying to share) the same landscape. The exploits of Alexia Tarabotti, a lady of considerable assets including her large Scottish werewolf husband, a battle-parasol, and love for treacle tarts is truly unique on the shelves of fantasy fiction.

This series is progressingly nicely and the plot not only remains interesting but is growing more so as we get closer to the final book. Of course the true delight that the author brings to these books is her writing. Seldom does one find such witty phrasing and word choice where so much is conveyed so accurately while remaining succinct.

Looking forward to the final volume.

Very disappointing. I skimmed the last two chapters because it was just too ludicrous. Not even sure I’ll attempt the last book now.
