Chock full of classic Pratchett wit. Some really fun world building and themes. I really love how Pratchett can blend modern day tropes into a classic high fantasy setting. Found myself regularly chuckling as I read.

I have tried so hard to get into Discworld, and this was a good intro book (so I was told). Alas, I don't think this series is for me. There's nothing inherently wrong with this book, but it took more of my patience than I would have liked. A few things to be aware of if you're new to Discworld... There are no chapters, so you don't get an accomplished feeling of beginning and ending a vignette - so you have to mentally mark the beginning and end of a scene (like one long run on sentence). The style is more satyrical and less fantasy. It is a satire based in a fantasy world. So if you're looking for epic fantasy, this isn't it. More like Monty Python instead of LOTR.
