I am astonished by what a truly perfect book this is. Such a beautiful and melancholy story told with such efficient clarity and grace. John Williams absolutely deserves to be held in the same regard as other great 20th-century American authors like Steinbeck and Salinger. I am forever changed by this reading experience. 

Life unfolds in unexpected and disappointing ways, marked by a multitude of failures in the pursuit of fulfillment. Can peace be found within that?
