I preferred loveless and radio silence more than solitaire. However, I did enjoy learning more about Tori Spring and her life experiences.

“If you can’t accept things you don’t understand, then you’ll spend your life questioning everything. Then you’ll have to live your life in your own head.”

Solitaire had me hooked from the first chapter. I knew a bit about Tori from the Heartstopper books but this really opened up her personality and her issues. I could definitely relate to her, I went through something similar at her age.
This book was a wild ride but it showed life with depression without explicitly talking about it, and it had a great mystery throughout that always left you guessing.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about mental health issues, love, friendship and mystery!

absolutely adore this book, it’s rare to find a protagonist you relate to 100% , where you agree to all their thoughts, feelings and actions. i’ve never seen a character like tori spring before, she’s a fictional embodiment of me. a person who thinks like i do. i read this book very quickly and enjoyed every moment of it, i cant express how perfect it is.
although i do wish that tori and micheal’s romantic relationship at the end was explored further, i love them both

I spent the entirety of this book being confused, honestly I had no clue what was going on most of the time.

I love Alice Oseman as an author and I love Heartstopper so I will definitely read more of their work in the future but this book just wasn't for me at all. If it wasn't by Alice Oseman, I probably would have stopped reading pretty early on.

It was so incredibly dark. Definitely check the content warnings for this book as it covered lots of very dark topics that could potentially be very triggering.

My favourite quotes:

p160 "I would be nothing without Becky, I think. Even though things are different now. Sometimes it makes me tear up thinking about how much I love her"

p262 "Michael still has that spark. That light.  But there's more there now. Things that cannot be seen; only found"

p270 "My hobbies are drinking diet lemonade and being a bitter asshole"

p272 " As I open the door, her murmurs: 'Nothing's going to change until you decide you want it to change"

p278 "Some people aren't meant for school, that doesn't mean they aren't meant for life"
