jag gillar verkligen tori och jag uppskattade att läsa från hennes perspektiv, men själva handlingen var inte riktigt för mig

I read this book when I was 14 and it altered by brain chemistry. A unique storyline mixed with romance unlike other YA novels. I’ve read almost all Alice Oseman’s books but this is my favourite :).

2,5 stjerner. Kunne godt lide midten af bogen og alt med Nick og Charlie. Meeeen ellers var det da godt nok en kedelig og formålsløs omgang

No because I had to reread this. I don’t think I read this one properly the first time. The book reads so easily, it’s like reading Tori’s full thought process and I love the writing style. The topics are pretty heavy and for me especially because I could relate to Tori in almost all aspects (not specifically now but yeah). The ending has me in a chokehold. I think I read that part in one single breath. Dammit I also cried. Michael is so sweet by the way he deserves the world. (And of course Tori also). Idk what to say really, just that this book is really really special to me. At the end I was basically ranting in my notes in this book hahah.

Going into Solitaire I was unsure of what to expect besides expansion upon the Heartstopper universe, and I was left both confused and pleased somehow?
The plot line was intriguing enough, but the ending was a little haphazard. It did feel as though the book was unsure of what it was meant to be about thematically - was it love, friendship and solace, mental health and acceptance, rebellion and conformity? I can’t say.
The character of Tori was interesting to explore considering her particularly cynical pessimistic world view and portrayal of poor mental health, but some remarks from Tori could come off as triggering (I had no personal issue with this however).
The side characters did feel like they simply were there to forward Tori’s plot and could have been fleshed out more. Michael was so captivating but I’m still left with so many questions about him.
The novel was written well and very easy to read, I flew through it! It’s clear though that this is early work from Alice and their writing has improved in recent years. Overall I think the plot is interesting enough to warrant a read and a further glimpse into the Heartstopper world, and Nick and Charlie are about as lovely as ever, and the flaws can be overlooked considering the novel shows more of Tori’s life besides what we see of her in the graphic novels.
