Well, I kinda liked this novel. I have to admit, it wasn't as gripping or exciting as I thought it would be, still an enjoyable one-time read. I'm a big fan of suspense and serial killer strories, and tv shows like Criminal Minds, and it's quite hard to surprise me, since I already read or saw technically everything about the subject, so maybe it's my fault that I wasn't ultimately impressed with it. :)
Thank you Jen, for sharing it for free! :)

There was a lot of conveniently placed 'hero' moments and a few generous ab descriptions but I always appreciate a practical main character who takes charge of taking steps to defend herself after a traumatic event.

Scream will always be a classic when discussing horror movies. It honestly kickstarted the teen scream era and it hasn't been really replicated since. I remember watching those movies in theater and just loving the thrill that came with that. And that's what Jennifer Armentrout captures in The Dead List.

Our main character, Ella, is attacked one night when leaving a party. After she escapes, her world is turned upside down when people start showing up dead and the past is coming back to haunt her - literally. As Ella reconnects with a long lost crush, she begins to questions everyone around her and also her part in a horrible event that happened when she was young.

Armentrout's writing is fun, thrilling and full of pop culture references that I love. It makes the characters seem that much more realistic, like they are people you would know. It was really cool of her to make this a freebie for fans and it definitely kept me entertained all the way through. As for who the killer was, let's just say my sleuthing skills were mostly on point...they weren't entirely accurate, but pretty darn close.

I have a strict - don’t annoy me policy.  This violated it at 4% and continued to 8%.  Life is annoying enough.

Not my favourite JLA book but honestly was so refreshing from her other paranormal/fantasy romances she typically writes.
For the most part, this book had a decent pace and plot and the writing as always was great. I don’t ever find myself not wanting to finish something JLA has written.

The premise was interesting but I wish we got more background, especially with what happened with Penn. As a reader, we were told what happened rather than was shown and I think the book would have been more effective if we saw this. I also think the relationship between Jensen and Ella was very quick and not typical with her other books which are known for her angsty romances.

Overall, this was a pretty decent YA thriller and I honestly would read anything this woman writes.

Great book!!!

Finally a book that got me hooked till the very end
