3.91 AVERAGE

This book is so reminiscent of the 1990s scream flicks. I don't expect it to be original. It's pure entertainment with twists and turns and a little romance thrown in.

Can't go wrong with that!

This book was quite predictable. Fun to read, and everything that I want in an audiobook. It wasn't difficult to understand whilst doing something else. The book felt more like a contemporary with a tiny bit of mystery. I don't think I would've enjoyed this book reading the physical edition. But the audiobook made it a fun read! Would not read it again though, but was fun to read it once.

Simple.

Realistic....(sometimes)

Enjoyable.

Reminded of 'Scream' and those slasher horror movies days.

IT's free on Wattpad so go check it out!!

I've read a couple books from Jennifer and I really loved all of them.
This book is like an all-in package. You got the romance. You got the horror. You got the mystery. There's some sort of balance in this story between the romance, the bantering jokes in high school and also the mystery and horror stalking vibes.

The characters are also funny and enjoyable. The pacing is not too slow and not too fast, it was perfect and the story just flow easily while keeping the gripping tension and slight jokes of a high school kid all together.

Honestly, I blame myself for picking this book up at night because I had to stayed up until dawn just to finish it because I can't wait until tomorrow to find out who did it. But, it was worth it.
I think I was shocked twice in this book.
SpoilerAt the beginning, I was suspecting Gavin had something to do with it but then again why would he hurt Ella right ? I mean if it were jealousy it didn't add up because Ella didn't date Jensen until later and I didn't see him had anything to do with Penn's death. He was even a good friend to Penn looking from all that flashbacks.
Then, when it was revealed that it was the police officer I was like dumbfounded.... I mean the reason to why he did it raise up a lot of question (???) Just because he got traumatized by handling Penn's case he suddenly start killing people four years later ? Pfftt.. I didn't buy it. I almost got angry thinking it would end just like that, that the real killer was the police...
BUT THEN GAVIN surprised me in the end!!! IT WAS HIM AND THEN I DISMISSED IT ?!! I should've trusted Jensen HAHAHA he see right through him and I was thinking he was a bit jealous you know so I didn't really trust his opinion about Gavin in this story
I should've known it and trust my gut!

This book is very enjoyable and I can't stop reading it when I start to pick it up. With a great plot twist, great characters and great plot it's definitely one of my favorite mystery YA novel!

Where to begin with this book?

Jennifer L. Armentrout is in my top 3 favourite authors of all time. Her books are absolutely phenomenal and I enjoy every single one I read.

It was so nice of Jennifer to upload chapters weekly to Wattpad for free so all us readers are able to read it.
My struggle was waiting for each upload because the book was so damn good I just wanted more and more after every upload.

I would thoroughly suggest this book to anyone because it keeps you on edge all the time and I was transfixed from the very first chapter. Frankly, I would suggest any of Jennifer's books to read because they are all brilliant. *goes and picks up another one of her books*

The final chapters were some of my favourite parts of the novel because there was so much tension built up before the killer was revealed and having to wait for to wait for those episodes was painful.

I really would recommend to anyone to read this book especially if you like thrillers or just want to try and read something different because this book was so enjoyable and thank you to Jennifer for allowing us to read this book on Wattpad because it was so so good.

Spoiler Whilst reading I was slowly piecing together who I thought the murderer was but at the same time was thinking 'nah it probably won't be them' which was something I really enjoyed about this novel because I kept questioning who I thought was the killer. Gavin. When I found out it was Gavin I literally sat on the floor screeching 'I KNEW IT OH SHIT' because I get highly emotional when reading a Jennifer L. Armentrout book Face with tears of joy.

Moving on to the character of Jensen. Jensen is ultimate bae. I ship myself with him... as well as of course shipping him with Ella. I loved his character he was so sweet and adorable towards her and it made me all mushy and the development of their relationship was so good. For about a chapter I actually questioned whether Jensen was the killer and then quickly dismissed it.

review to come.

From the start to the end, we have a very obvious homage to Scream and other slasher/teen horror movies.
We are told Ella was one of a group of four friends who, for undisclosed reasons, are no longer close. Regular flashbacks to events of the past slowly reveal what happened, but it’s the present that really ticks over.
When Ella attempts to leave a party she’s attacked. Unfortunate, yes, but it quickly becomes apparent there’s a serial killer on the loose and certain students are being targeted. There’s the usual attacks, deaths and heart-in-mouth moments.
Alongside this we have Ella and old flame Jensen trying to get reacquainted. Even in the midst of best friends being slaughtered the pair manage to find time to hook up.
While I read this with a rather tongue-in-cheek vibe, it’s the kind of story that delivers pretty much what you expect. It’s not really delivering anything new, but it’s entertaining enough.

While this definitely had some creepy moments to it, and I didn’t see the twist at the end coming, I also enjoyed seeing Ella stand up for herself (multiple dang times) and seeing her reconnect with Jensen. That girl really did have a serious case of self preservation/nine lives/ and some balls to pull off being attacked and getting through it multiple times. I was surprised how the events unfolded and did not see there were not one but two murderers! In the end, it was an enjoyable read and I’m glad Ella, Jensen, and Heidi made it through.
