That was totally unexpected - in a good way.

I enjoyed this whilst I was reading it but when I put it down I forgot about it and I definitely wouldn't pick this up again.

The mystery aspect of this was well done and it was full of suspense and twists I didn't see coming. I think the reveal of the killer was interesting but not very believable.

I also had issues with how realistic this story was. This book was meant to be set in the current time period but I know when I was Ella's age, I wouldn't have done half the stuff she did and I didn't have a murder stalking me. Being street smart and knowing how to keep ourselves safe is so engrained into women and girls these days that the things she did just didn't make sense to me at all. I also didn't understand why her parents and the police repeatedly left her alone and almost didn't take her seriously when she tried to report it.

All in all, this wasn't my favourite JLA book and it wouldn't be the first mystery-thriller I'd recommend to you if you asked but if you want a quick, romance heavy mystery-thriller then it might be worth reading.

I’ve been a fan of JLA for a long ass time, yet I still haven’t made my way through all of her work. So picking this up was exciting because now I get to knock another one off my list.

It was honestly pretty suspenseful but nothing too scary. Was it fucked up? Yes. Definitely. But nothing blew me away.

Oddly enough it reminded me of that Stephanie Perkins book, There’s Someone Inside Your House? I can’t remember the title which is annoying. That book received really crap reviews but I really enjoyed it?! Not that this deserves crap reviews (it doesn’t) but they just felt similar in their stories.

This is a good thriller/mystery but still has a cute romance to follow. I enjoyed it but I don’t think I’ll be picking it up for a reread.

this is the first stand-alone of JLA’s i’ve read and i enjoyed the crap out of it! it really did have my heart racing throughout the story, and made me suspicious of everyone as to who the killer may be. like, i was skeptical of EVERY character until i deduced it couldn’t be them. i loved the romance between Ella and Jensen, the trope of best friends to being estranged to being friends again and then lovers. it was wonderfully done! and i definitely picked up on JLA’s love for Supernatural in her naming of Jensen Carver hehe

Great book. She is such a great writer. Her books sometimes relate to the past ones that I have read. But I look past it and the book is very thrilling and you are trying to figure out the mystery at the same time as you read the book. Just another great book and can't wait to start another one of her books.

Gave me the willies!!!!

I have loved J. Armentrout for years, she is a author queen, she really is. I FREAKING loved this book. It was creeptastic and just look over your shoulder writing. I loved it. What I really really appreciated was that the female main character was no crawl up in a corner and bury her head girl, she wanted to be able to take care of herself and did so but without it being over the top. I really think every single girl/woman should take self defense classes, it should be mandatory in school, it's a win win. Read it, read it, read it, it'll have you turning on the lights. Huge kisses J. Armentrout, you'll always be a queen!!!
