Loved it! I am a sucker for literary love :)

The Roughest Draft was an angsty, sad, emotional roller coaster. I loved it.

This was a one star read for me ⭐
It didn't work for me at all , DNFed at 80% couldn't bring my self to finish it I didn't care about the characters (I couldn't stand Katrina) I kept reading because I knew it was a slow burn but unfortunately it wasn't for me I had very high hopes because people compared it to Beach Read , but it was nothing like it.
I don't think that it is a "bad book" it is just that we were not a match
*also the miscommunication was torturing me like you two are grown adults why can't you just talk*
There is some emotional cheating too

Those last 50 pages felt to me like 100.ekkdkd. I'm sorry but the "once they get together i lost interes" low key kidn of happened to me here.

Nice read. Just didn't loved it for SOEM reason. Didn't root for them. Didn't particularly lived any character

But not bad at all, just,,, didnt connect with any chraacters.

okay so the mronign after i came across this video abotu different romance books. WActehd the extarct abiut this one, and i agree with a lot fo things: sheila, o como sea la amiga, is inttorudced in the story very weirdly, esta un segundo y no vuelev hasta un buen rato, tipo, solo cuando es relevante para el plto. weird firendship, idk, it felt forced. also, no se transmitio muy bien la amsitad) (chris, the fiancee, the moment they started to wiritng in flroida he turned into a villian, clearly. Conveniently. How do you get enagaged lol, i understand she wanted soemthign safe to settle but still. No se como se supone que ahi alguna vez hubo amor lol - y se supone qe lo hubo, es similar al Martñi pero no igual, el si no la quiso nucna a la Olga, plataaa)
I alsod didnt root for them, not as a couple, but not even as separate individuals. idk

WHat i didnt agree witht he creator of the video tho, is that (she described this as a fusion of beach read-havent read- and PWMOV (have read), but that PWMOV was soo much better. That book didnt do much for me than this one ,dkkdkdl. WHICH MADE ME REFLEXIONAR: why do i keep reading super poular romance books (other than collen hover*)? Like, its not like i read them onyl bc theyre popular. Most sound interesting, btu for instance, i have "book lovers" and "beach read" on my tbr even tho i dont have interest in them, AND I DIDNT EVEN LOVED PWMOV. like. WHY

and this is not to say i wont read popular romance books that sounds interesting, just that i wont read books that barely catch my attention just for theyr popularity, BUT MOSTLY, that i need other sources for new books to read other than "popular (NEW--not from 2014 lol-) romance books". I quickly realised booktok recs -90% of them- are not my thing. Same with this type of books (which, now i think, prob come from booktok itself lol, yt for me-

*: bc i dotn think ill like her work dkkd, got a taste of it, was enough-

DID NOT FINISH: 13%

Was really excited by the first two chapters of this book but then set it down and picked it back up a week or so later when I had finished the other kindle book I was reading, and I found the next few chapters to just be very uncomfortable reading.

I firstly realised that the authors were setting us up for an infidelity novel which on premise alone I wasn’t excited about, plus I found the relationship between our main character and her husband, Chris, just honestly horrific. I know it’s meant to be written that way and we’re supposed to feel that way because then we feel less bad about the fact that she cheats on him later in the novel, but I was just acutely aware that I was reading fiction and it all felt a bit false and forced to me.

Moving on to something else now.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF - I got 25% through and just could not get into the writing or the characters. Too many books on my TBR pile to keep going with one that isn't doing it for me. Had to put it down.

4.5 Stars
I'm in love with the way Emily and Austin write together. It's fluid and full of poetic prose. The way they string a sentence together paints a vivid picture. You can bet their YA backlog has jumped up on my TBR.
Kate and Nathan were a writing duo genius but four years ago they broke up. Speculation is of a torrid affair but no one will confirm. They're forced together to honor their publisher's contract and no one is happy.
My only *minor* complaint is a decision made by Kate in the "today". It pulled me out of the story because I felt like it was somewhat out of character for her to be reckless.
I adored the way their writing paralleled their lives. I've always heard an author should write what they know and the symmetry between the two was perfection. It might have been on the heavier side for a romance, however, I was captivated from the first chapter.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

It was fine? From the cover and the description I was expecting more of a Beach Read fun but also heartfelt romance vibe but instead it was vaguely angsty/pretentious writers being vaguely angsty and pretentious. Glad it was a library book. Just not my vibe.
