After a few Christmas romance books, a cozy Christmas mystery book was the perfect read. I loved the setting of a Christmas tree farm, and really enjoyed all the Christmas activities they hosted. The characters were great, and reading this felt like returning to a favourite series. I never guessed who the murderer was, so this definitely kept me on the edge of my seat - can't wait to read the next one!

I wasn’t over thrilled when this book started off by saying that insulting the word “zen” - kinda figured right there that This book would not be for me. However, I kept reading (listening) and despite the cheesy - sometimes stilted - dialogue, in the end there were charming parts to this. The main character has a rescued kitty named Cindy Lou Who & another character has some rescued reindeer.

Anyway - reading the next one :)

2.75 - 3ish ⭐️ (mostly because of the not-smooth writing)

This is the debut book for the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series. I was drawn to this book by the beautiful cover , the Christmas theme, and let's be honest who wouldn't be curious about a holiday themed cozy written by Jacqueline Frost. I'm glad that I was provided an ARC by the publisher because this was a delightful, whimsical debut of what promises to be a terrific series if this book is a preview of what's to come. It has everything that cozy mystery readers look for - wonderful characters, a charming/quaint setting and an well plotted mystery that will keep the reader turning pages and guessing.

A full review will be posted to my blog closer to the release date.

I was provided an advanced reader copy by the publisher, Crooked Lane Books, through Netgalley.
