The writing is good, but the story is way too toxically 90's for me to finish. I remember liking it 20 years ago, though.

★ 2/5 ★

3.5 stars.

I like every interaction between Jaine (female lead) and Sam (male lead) - there is that witty banter, sexual tension, and right level of sweetness (not too corny it makes you puke) which I’m looking for. But that’s it.

If I’m being honest here, I’ve read everything else as fast as I can and only savor the Jaine-Sam moments. I didn’t particularly like all the other characters, and I dreaded the mystery in the story. It totally creeped me out. It didn’t sit well with me and I’m not even looking forward to know who’s the killer in the end. Once it was revealed who, I was like “Oh? Okay. Next. Wait, what? That’s it? Are you kidding me? Where the hell are my Jaine-Sam moments?”

So there, while Mr. Perfect made me swoon, I’d say that the book was far from perfect and I wasn’t fully satisfied in the end.
funny lighthearted tense fast-paced

This reminded me so much of a Julia Garwood or Susan Elizabeth Phillips book. Just that style of FMC who is ridiculously attracted to the grump of a MMC, and once he finds out she's attracted to him he playfully uses it against her. I was not expecting
two of her friends to actually get murdered! and did not see coming who the murderer turned out to be, likely because I listened on audio.

Jaine and her friends all work at together and over post-work happy hour they teasingly put together "the list" of the perfect attributes of a man, including doing the dishes and having a good size dick. But one of the woman gets drunk and makes the list public. At first it's just their work that knows but it gets out and goes viral until news shows like Good Morning America even want to bring them on for an interview. However, the women on the list start ending up murdered so Jaine and Shelly, the surviving 2 women are on high alert for a disgruntled man attacking them. Turns out though that the killer is a woman who worked at their employer in HR. Leah's mom wanted a boy and called her "Mr. Perfect" growing up, raised her like a boy, physically abused the child for any mistakes. During puberty she was "punished in a sexual manner" (wtf does that mean!?). This continued until Lee Corwin beat and murdered her mom, went into a mental institution for 7 years and came out as Leah. It was the title of the list "Mr. Perfect" that triggered her into murder.

Jaine and Shelly are saved because Jaine's obnoxious next door neighbor Sam turns out to be a cop. Over the course of the book they start being more civil to each other, helped along by the fact they're ridiculously attracted to each other, and they're forced to interact frequently when Sam becomes involved in protecting her from the killer. He helps solve the mystery of the murder and gets there in time when Shelly and Jaine take down Leah he helps out after since they're injured. The chemistry between Jaine and Sam was smoking hot and funny.

4.5⭐️ This was good. There is some questionable consent and sex scenes, but I'm trying to ignore it.

The banter between the MCs was cute, but the whole list going viral thing was exagerated.
