As short as it is, I’ve read it and listened to it hundreds of times in my life, and it changes the way I see the world. Do I believe in the egg theory? I don’t know, probably not, but I cannot be sure. To rest my conscious mind, I’ll say no. I mean, how would we explain twins if the egg theory were real? Maybe I’m too dumb to understand, but I loved the idea and the story. Andy Weir is just a man with such a powerful mind.

A reread of a perennial favorite. First discovered in high school, and whenever I need a good cathartic short story to make me cry and feel good about humanity, she's always there for me.
"I'm Andy Weir?" "And you're everyone who read his work."
actual rating of 2.5/5
i watched the kurzgesagt video adaptation prior to reading the text myself and the visuals kind of help, but as always there’s speculative fiction that is great with visuals (ie all tomorrows) and some that should just be left up to your own interpretation (cough cough orv stop getting adaptations i don’t need a movie and an anime i think han sooyoung would be disappointed but also i am han sooyoung so let me end this tangent)
i kind of hope death is like this. maybe not the “oh you are everyone including Mussolini and a peasant Chinese girl and Jesus Christ” part — because i think kindness is just as meaningful even when you don’t view it as something being done to yourself but idk that’s just me
ah. “the egg” there is Herman Hesse for those who have eyes to see. this is literally just like Emil Sinclair bro

Bana "At Play in the Fields of the Lord"'u hatırlattı. Weir, bu ara fazlaca Peter Matthiessen okuyor sanıyorum. :)

Cool
This is a great philosophical short story with an answer to the question "What is the meaning of life?" And no, this author's answer is not "42." You can read the story for free here.
