This is the first John Green book I ever read and it’s probably my favorite that I’ve read by him so far. I think John Green is really good at capturing illness whether it be mental or physical and putting it in words that make sense.

Five Stars.

This book had me from chapter one.

Because of the realistic of John's writing made it ever so believable and just had me wanting to read more.

I didn't take to Q too much because there were times I felt he was abit pushy and quite douchey to his friends who are amazing. Bloody Ben, Radar and Lacey will always be the most memorable characters in this story. they were so funny and you can just tell how much they loved Q and all his annoyness. lol. I loved Margo at the beginning of the book, but at the end I just felt sorry for her and the tone to her completely change. Which I've never read before.

The storyline to this book was so mapped out in a great way and It just made it feel like we were on the quest with Q.

Love this book, if your John Green fan and havn't read this book. DO IT HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Thank Cray Club for hosting this book, can't wait for the live chat. yo!!

It's not even hard enough to be made of plastic. It's a paper town. - Margo

This book is not easily grasped since it is full of metaphors, poetry, clues and underlying statements. I didn't quite understand what the titles "The Strings", "The Grass" and "The Vessel" meant until the very end. They are all metaphors for people. After I read this book, I didn't immediately catch it's whole concept but as I thought about it a little more, somehow I understood. I understood that people are relatively different, and yet somehow still the same. We will never completely understand someone because sometimes the way we look at or see people is not really how they are but how we perceive them. And that I think is the best lesson here: that we allow others, especially ourselves, to be REAL.

A lot of the time, YA novels can feel rushed to me, especially if they are simply fiction without a blend of another genre. John Green's writing is simple but crafted very well. He completes plot points I don't necessarily think he had to, and that's impressive. It always feels very well thought out and as though it has a deeper purpose than being a stack of bound paper with 300+ pages meant to be read once or a million times.
