I liked this book, which was an endearing mix of sympathetic high school characters, a mystery, and themes of growing up and learning to recognize people for who they are. Although I have to say I found Margo more obnoxious than loveable, the voice of the protagonist and the well-plotted clues kept me reading.

Second of John Green's books I read, years after the first. But I still couldn't help but notice how similar everything seemed to the first John Green novel I'd read. I wasn't really impressed. It was a good story line, and a sweet ending. But it left me wondering if this is all Green writes about. I haven't read a third book of his yet so I guess I'll just have to do that sometime soon and see if what I think is true.

I read this in high school and decided to reread it for the movie. I was less than thrilled upon re-reading as I found the main character, Quentin, to be a bit obsessed with finding Margo. Sure, other stuff happened in the meantime, but he kept running through the same ideas about how to find her, etc. I think that the end of the book commentated on some interesting points, like sometimes you just have to leave somewhere/someone to find your true self, but other than that, I found it to be a very average book. Not John Green's best, in my opinion. Really don't care to see the movie that badly either, at this point.

Kind of dissatisfied by the ending? This one felt less whole as a novel.

I’m so glad that YA has grown so much since this was originally published, because wow these boys are boring. The most exciting parts were when they talked about urine in literally any capacity.

I thought I would give this book a try and at first it was interesting to understand the relationship between Margo and Quentin. However, as the story got on, the plot line died a little - it got slow.
Until the third section of the book where Q takes a road trip with his friends.

The ending was a bit of a letdown, I expected more of a meaningful relationship that formed between Margo and Q, but it mainly focused on their past lives and made up stories from 10-year old Margo.

The characters were easy to understand and from it you can see why each and every one of them got on with one another or why did they not. However, the character of Ben can be quite grotesque with the vast amount of sexual and genitalia comments which can make for a difficult read at times, but I see where the author is coming from.

I found myself laughing out loud as I read through the parts of this book with Quentin and his friends, however I found Margo's character to be selfish. I would still recommend the read, but I just didn't love her character.

Interesting themes and I enjoyed the mystery. The ending was uneventful and pretty lame

I also don’t understand the need for the slurs used..? They didn’t add anything to the story or plot, ableism and homophobia were not major themes - they weren’t necessary
