Spoiler alert!!!

I really wanted to like this one more but it felt drawn out and like every bad thing found the epitome here.

Dean was an absolute asshole, I don't care that he didn’t want her to cry what the actual fuck!?
Then again everything was so weird here. I liked how this one started but then the "drawn out" part started.

What was more unneccessary? Ray? Or how rude Tucker's mother was without EVER apologising for it no, even going as far as giving us peak sexism.

I also really REALLY hated how bi or lesbian women here existed but only for show (the bi couple that treated Dean as their toy) and the lesbian couples, different ones, mentioned that always served as entertainment for some men like what the fuck?

Yeah I really have nothing more to say but in the end yes they were sweet and I really wanted to like them but this one really didn't cut it - for me.

And still I am going to read more of Elle Kennedy - I guess I dislike myself.

The Goal by Elle Kennedy unfortunately has one of my least favorite tropes of all time. However, it is a testament to Elle Kennedy‘s writing that I even decided to read this. I really enjoyed the first three books in the series and at least I knew what I was getting into before I started reading this one, given how the third book ends (take this as your warning—though these are stand alone, there is a significant amount of overlap between these stories). Despite not liking the actual plot of this book, I did enjoy the characters and their development, especially Tuck’s. I appreciated how they learned to grow together in an unplanned for situation, rather than opposing each other every step of the way. While this certainly wasn’t my favorite in the series, I still think it has strong writing. Make sure you read the TW before jumping into this book, because on top of (in my opinion) one of the worst tropes in romance, it also has some pretty heavy themes sprinkled in for good measure. I’m looking forward to closing out this series with The Legacy, so stay tuned for my thoughts on that novella collection.

3.5 stars for this one. Not my favorite but really enjoyed this one. Felt like the first half went a little too slow and then the second half a little too fast. Love how this book gave us the story that was happening during the previous book without us knowing. I know a lot of people don’t like the surprise pregnancy trope but I loved it. Also really enjoyed how this book kind of closed of everyone’s stories. Am excited for the legacy book but heard it’s best to read the Briar U book first so I’ll probably do that.

I honestly knew what I was going into but I still had such a hard time getting through this book. From Ray to the descriptions of childbirth i definitely could’ve skipped this
