Had this not been for a book club, I would have DNFd the book, I just found it to be boring and not worth reading the underage, questionable-consent sex that took place.

Who is the audience for this book, someone vaguely interested in the Manson family for vibes but doesn't want to read Helter Skelter? So yeah, not for me.

poor girls. girlhood is so magic even in the realm of abuse, which is maybe the worst thing ever. how does emma cline narrate so secretly, allowing this sad story to read smoothly.

It seems like her writing style is hit or miss w people, I quite enjoyed it. I do agree with other reviewers that the present day plotline added little.

this was a really interesting take on such a dark topic. i really liked the focus on being drawn in to the group and then realizing that you would have done horrific things for them.
