Bryden and Sam have it all: thriving careers, a smart apartment in a luxury condominium, supportive friends & a cherished daughter - the perfect life for the perfect couple. Then Sam receives a call at his office to say that Bryden has failed to collect their daughter from daycare. Arriving home with their little girl, he finds his wife’s car in the underground garage, upstairs in their apartment her laptop is open on the table, her cell phone nearby, her keys in their usual place in the hall. But Bryden is nowhere to be seen. How can she have disappeared from her own home? And did she even leave the building at all? With every minute that passes – and as questions swirl around their community – Bryden and Sam’s past seems a little less perfect, their condominium less safe, their friends, neighbors and relatives no longer quite so reliable . . .

This is a suspenseful thriller and, right from the beginning, the reader is given clues as to what is coming next - living up to the title of not seeing it coming!

The short chapters, and the different character perspectives mixed in within them, keeps the suspense building throughout, planting the seed as to what could have happened to Bryden, and then, proceeding to discover how. A cast of unlikeable, unpredictable characters certainly gives a lot to think about, and although I guessed a few twists, the author does an excellent job of maintaining the intrigue in a cleverly plotted title.

There are a few red herrings planted along the way but the conclusion brings everything to a head, albeit being a tiny bit disappointing in the reveal, which although I did figure out, I felt it lacked a certain something to tie it all together completely. Nevertheless, a gripping thriller that I devoured and would definitely recommend.

Everybody had a motive in this mystery. I had a good time with it I just thought the ending was rushed and tied up too neatly.

Thank you to PRH Audio for the ALC!

This wasn’t my favorite Shari Lapena, but it definitely lived up to its title!! I thought I had the twist figured out but I was so wrong lol I almost wish there had been less suspects because it was a bit tough to keep up with via audiobook. But I did enjoy the narrators voice, and it kept me intrigued and listening trying to solve the mystery.

Thriller fans you will enjoy this one!
