Well... that was something I read... Right off the bat, the fact that the police goes in full searching/investigation mode when the woman has been missing for less 2 hours is unbelievable. If there had been some other clues that she was missing (like a room where a fight seems to have happened, a pool of blood or something, a suicide letter) other than she did noy pick up her daughter at daycare, maybe I would've bought it, but an adult won't be declared missing after less than 2 hours... I don't think even once did the detective entertain the idea that Bryden might've just up and left. Detectives always bring up that possibility, no matter how many times everyone in the "victim"'s entourage say she'd never do a think like that... Also, I find it very convenient (and by that, I mean overdone) that the CCTV system doesn't work in the garage. It's time for authors to find something else. When I read a Shari Lapina book, I expect a psychological, maybe a domestic thriller. This was a full on mystery/investigation. That was not what I was in the mood for so I was a bit let down. But further than that, there were too many characters that were way too detailed. And I felt like I was reading a first draft, something felt off the entire time and the story was a bit all over the place. On top of that, the ending was a dud, and very rushed and abrupt. I've read many fantastic reviews about this, so maybe it was just not for me. Or maybe if I went in with a different mindset when I was in the mood for a whodunit?

Shari Lapena continues to solidify her place among thriller author royalty! Every single book I’ve read of hers has been amazing and full of twists and suspense. She Didn’t See It Coming was no exception! There were so many potential suspects and so much happening beneath the facade of a perfect life. This movie be is a must read and if you love audiobooks, definitely listen to it. Narrator January LaVoy did a phenomenal job telling this story and voicing the characters!

I was disappointed with this one, the book takes you on a goose chase through several characters lives when none of them even really matter at the end. The ending was very anticlimactic, definitely not my favorite from this author.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Audio for the early access to She Didn’t See It Coming!
A really solid (and quick!!) domestic thriller that initially starts as a missing person case but ends with a murder. There are so many suspects and I love how their stories wove into one another. I also think we’ll get another story in this world with the detective because while the case was solved, there is still a lot of shady characters and lines that were sprinkled throughout. I enjoyed Detective Jayne Salter and would love to have another case from her perspective.
The audio was also fantastic, January LaVoy did a great job separating characters through her tone and voice. There are a lot of POV changes throughout so she helped keep me on track. All in all, another great thriller from Shari Lapena!

Bryden and Sam are the perfect couple. They have a great marriage, good jobs and live in a luxury condo and they have a beautiful three-year-old daughter called Clara.
When Sam gets a call that Bryden has failed to pick up Clara from daycare. He races from his office to go and pick her up.
When they both return home, Bryden is nowhere to be since but her laptop, her phone and her keys are still there. So where is she? At first, he thinks that she has just popped out. But, if she did, she would have taken her phone and keys. Also, her car is still in the garage. Sam waits hopelessly for her to return home. But how later She still hasn’t returned, and even her siblings do not know where she is. He decides to call the Police.
This is another fantastic, cleverly written thriller from the queen of domestic thrillers. The is a slow evolving story of the disappearance of Bryden. As time goes on. We find that the supposedly perfect marriage is not as it seems and all those involved is hiding their own secrets. The thriller will keep you guessing to the very end. I really enjoyed this thriller with this surprising ending. 5 stars from me.
